How Each Holosun Optic Co-Witness on the Glock 43X/48

How Each Holosun Optic Co-Witness on the Glock 43X/48

Mark Dymond |

If you’ve got a Glock 43X or 48 and are wondering which Holosun red dots will co-witness with your iron sights, you’re in the right spot. This post is all about these specific models—so if you’re curious about other Glock MOS models, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered in a separate blog post.

But before we dive into the details, make sure to check out our fitment guide to learn more about each red dot discussed.

Adapter Plates Used

The Glock 43X has a RMSc footprint, which means you'll need an adapter plate for any Holosun optic because they use a modified RMSc footprint without rear lugs.

Want to dive deeper into the differences between RMSc and Modified RMSc footprints - Check out our article on the Glock 43X footprint. But for now, let’s focus on how each Holosun optic co-witnesses with your Glock 43X.

For this co-witness test, we focused on three plate manufacturers: CHPWS, Calculated Kinetics, and DPP. To achieve the best co-witness, we'll be using the thinnest option available, which is from DPP. If you want to see all plates available for the Glock 43X, check out our adapter plate finder here.

Models That Will Co-Witness

The red dots in this article will co-witness these models with standard height iron sights:

K Footprint Optics

K Footprint Optics

Holosun’s K footprint optics include the 407K, 507K, 507K ACSS, SCS Carry, EPS Carry, and the full-sized EPS. Each of these optics requires an adapter plate for installation. We tested plates from three manufacturers—CHPWS, Calculated Kinetics, and DPP—to find the best co-witness, and the DPP plate proved to be the thinnest, so that’s the one we used for this setup.

As a side note, the EPS Carry and SCS Carry do come with an RMSc to K footprint plate, which you can use, but it causes some overhang on the slide due to being a generic plate rather then specifically made for the 43X. The DPP plate offers the same thin profile without that issue.

The specific DPP plate you’ll need depends on the optic you're installing. There's a dedicated plate for the 407K, 507K, and 507K ACSS, and another for the EPS Carry, SCS Carry, and full-sized EPS (though the full-sized EPS might not be ideal for many due to the overhang).

 407K / 507K / 507K ACSS

These optics have a higher deck height than other K footprint models, which actually plays to our advantage here. These optics feature rear iron sights that are taller than the 43X's factory sights, since an adapter plate is necessary, resulting in a better co-witness with the red dot’s iron sights.

SCS Carry

The SCS Carry because it needs a plate only offers a glimpse of the front iron sights. However, it is still functional. Above is a picture illustrating this setup.

EPS Carry

Like we see with the SCS Carry, the EPS Carry also only offers a partial glimpse of the front iron sight because of the plate.

Full-Sized EPS

Lastly, like with the other two optics with a low deck height, you catch a glimpse of the front. You can still use the co-witness though. The EPS Full Size has the most obvious overhang on the slide, so this likely isn't a popular combination for anyone carrying a 43X.

Conclusion

And there you have it—these are all the co-witnessing options for the Glock 43X & 48 MOS with Holosun optics.

One thing to note is the SCS MOS will not work with this platform, that optic will only work with the regular Glock MOS system

If you're looking for the best co-witnessing Holosun optic for the Glock 43X, it is going to be a 407K, 507K, or 507K ACSS.

Keep in mind that co-witnessing is just one factor in selecting the right optic, so take your time to find the one that best suits your needs.
