7 Best Beretta A300 Ultima Holosun Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights

7 Best Beretta A300 Ultima Holosun Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights

Mark Dymond |

Hey Freedom Gorillas! Today we’re diving into the best red and green dot sights you can mount on your Beretta A300 Ultima. If you’ve already got one—or it’s on your wish list—you’ve chosen one of the most well-rounded and desirable semi-auto shotguns available today. The Beretta A300 Ultima combines classic Beretta reliability with modern upgrades that make it a powerhouse for hunting, clays, or home defense.

This gas-operated semi-auto shotgun features Beretta’s legendary MobilChoke system, a soft-recoiling Kick-Off stock, enlarged controls for fast manipulation, and smooth cycling with everything from light target loads to heavy game shells. It’s an excellent choice for those who want reliability and versatility all in one shotgun.

And now, with optics-ready models hitting the market, the A300 Ultima makes it easy to mount a red dot right out of the box—perfect for fast target acquisition in the field or at the range.

What models does this guide apply to?

  • Beretta A300 Ultima Snow Goose Black Synthetic
  • Beretta A300 Ultima Snow Goose Arctic Fox
  • Beretta A300 Ultima Competition
  • Beretta A300 Ultima Hunting Solid Marsh
  • Beretta A300 Ultima Hunting Solid Timber

If you own one of these models, your shotgun will feature an optics cut on top of the receiver with a removable cover plate. Just unscrew this plate, and you’ll be ready to mount a compatible RMR optic.

In this guide, we’ll break down which red dots work with the factory optics cut and what mounting footprint it uses.

Not Optics Ready? No Problem.

If your Beretta A300 Ultima isn’t one of the two optics-ready models listed above, you can likely still mount a red dot—it just takes a little extra hardware. With the right adapter or mount, almost any Mossberg 500 can be upgraded to run an optic. We’ve put together a Universal Shotgun Red Dot Mounting Guide that walks you through all the popular mounting solutions, including picatinny rails, vent rib adapters, and adapter plates.

What optics footprint is the Beretta A300 Ultima?

The Beretta A300 Ultima features an optics ready receiver with an RMR footprint. This means all the Holosun RMR footprint optics will fit directly on the receiver.

Why do we recommend Holosun Optics vs other options?

  • They are affordable but not cheap.
  • They come in red & green reticles with different sizes and styles.
  • They are built sturdily with strong aluminum or titanium housings and glass.
  • They have convenient features like Shake Awake and Side Mounted Batteries.
  • They have a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
  • They are reliable.
  • They are waterproof.
  • They have a great track record.

When you compare them to other options like Crimson Trace, Viridian, Bushnell, Vortex or others you will find prices are similar but the Holosun has more features, better battery life, a better track record, and better reticles.

Next on the list is the Holosun 507 Comp. This is one of the newest and most sought after optics from Holosun. Comp stands for "Competition" because this optic features a VERY large window, meant for competition shooting. It's the largest window in the industry.

The 507 Comp has some key differences vs the other optics listed here. First it has the C.R.S. which is the Complete Reticle System. This gives it many reticle configurations like a 2 MOA Dot only or a 2 MOA dot + 8 or 20 or 32 MOA Circle or just a 8 or 20 or 32 MOA Circle.

6. Holosun 509T Green & Red Dot - Most Durable Closed Emitter

Holosun 509T

Buy the 509T At The Best Price

The 509T is going to be the most heavy duty pistol optic you can buy from Holosun. It's an enclosed emitter and made with a titanium housing. The titanium is not to make it lightweight, it's to make it more durable.

The 509T comes with and RMR adapter plate

The enclosed emitter ensures that nothing can obstruct the view of the emitter and the lens, meaning water, dirt, lint or any other molecule will not get inside the optic. It will also make the optic easier to wipe off if it were to drop in mud or something like that.

The 509T is not going to be the lightest optic, but it will be the toughest.

It also has a nice big FOV and is filled with nitrogen which will help with fog-mitigation, just like a scope.

It's available in Red or Green reticles and they come with Holosun's Multi Reticle System, which is a 32 MOA ring + 2 MOA dot, and can be toggled to show only the 32 MOA Ring or just the 2 MOA dot by holding down the "-" button for 3 seconds.

It has shake awake, a side removable battery, solar failsafe with auto brightness or manual brightness modes, 10 daylight and 2 nightvision settings, and is IP67 waterproof.

This optic is a good option is you need an enclosed emitter and must have the ACSS Reticle.

Choosing between Red or Green Reticles

You may be wondering if you should get a red or green dot reticle. We get this question a lot so I am going to list a few bullet points for you to consider.

  • Green reticles are less straining for the eye to see.
  • Green reticles can help with astigmatism. If you have astigmatism you will see a blurry dot, we have been told by a few customers that Green dots help with their astigmatism, making the dot look more crisp than the red version.
  • Green will not washout on backdrops like green grass, foliage, or green colors.
  • In theory Green dots can have a longer battery life because Green is brighter, so for example a green dot on brightness setting 6 may be the same brightness as a red dot on setting 7 - which would save battery life.

Choosing between Open vs Closed Emitters For Shotguns

The easiest way to understand the difference between open and closed emitter red dots is to think about how you plan to use your shotgun. If you're going to be outdoors in rough conditions—like rain, snow, or sleet—an enclosed emitter red dot can offer better reliability.

While open emitter (reflex-style) red dots still work in the rain or snow, they have an exposed lens system that can occasionally collect water, mud, or debris. A closed emitter design, on the other hand, keeps the internals sealed—giving you extra peace of mind when you're deep in the woods, out in the blind, or crawling through brush on a turkey hunt.

Dust, leaves, or moisture can settle inside an open emitter if left unchecked, so occasional cleaning is a must. With a closed emitter, cleanup is quicker and easier since both lenses are protected and sealed from the elements.

How to decide which reticle style is best for you

In this guide we covered a few different reticle options. If you need some help deciding which is best for you here are some of our thoughts on each.

  • 2 MOA only : This dot is quite small which makes it precise. The downside is that it can be hard to “pick up” upon drawing the weapon. If you are experienced shooting red dot sights on pistols then this may not be an issue for you. If you are new, we recommend you practice “finding the dot” at home to become proficient. If you can train your muscle memory to find the dot then 2 MOA is a great choice.
  • 6 MOA only : This dot is decently larger than the 2 MOA dot. We classify this as more user friendly than the 2 MOA dot as it’s a bit easier to pick up upon drawing. The 6 MOA dot will not be as precise as the 2 MOA dot at long distances (50+ yards) but it is still plenty accurate at all distance ranges. The 6 MOA dot is a nice size and it gives you a less cluttered reticle. Some people prefer it over the MRS.
  • MRS Reticle (32 MOA Ring + 2 MOA Dot): This reticle is a good combination of both large and small. You have the 2 MOA dot to be precise with, and the 32 MOA Ring to help “find the dot”. The 32 MOA Circle is quite hard to miss. The nice thing about this reticle is the flexibility. You can use the 32 MOA Ring only or the 2 MOA dot only or both together. This way you can find what you prefer and stick to it.
  • ACSS Vulcan with 3 MOA Dot and 230 MOA Dotted Outer Ring : This reticle is going to have a 3 moa dot and the 230 MOA dotted outer ring. The outer ring is only visible when the dot is not centered. The purpose is to help you find the dot quicker upon drawing the weapon. The 3 MOA dot give you a slightly larger dot than the 2 MOA dot, but it’s not that noticeable. The real value to this reticle is the outer ring and it’s assistance with helping you get on target faster by quickly adjusting your grip to “find the dot”
