How to decide which reticle size is best for you

Vortex pistol optics come in a variety of different reticle sizes. So it may be challenging to figure out which one is best. Below we will cover each size reticle they offer to help you decide which is best for you

  • 2 or 3 MOA: This is a good size reticle if you are looking for something precise. The smaller dot may make it more difficult to "pick up" for newbies, but it will allow you to hit closer groups at distances 20 yards an greater.
  • 5 or 6 MOA: This is a very good size for EDC and sub and micro compacts. The 5 or 6 MOA dot is large enough to "pick up" rather easily, and accurate enough to be on target from 5-25 yards or more. After 25 years the dot may be a bit large to be super precise with.
  • Multi Reticle (32 MOA Ring + 3 MOA Center Dot): This is a very popular reticle. The 32 MOA outer ring makes "finding the dot" easier than a 3 or 6 MOA dot, then the 3 MOA center dot makes it precise enough at distances of 25 yards or more. The reticle can also be toggled to show just the 32 MOA outer ring, or just the 3 MOA center dot only, or both together.
  • 8 MOA Dot: The 8 MOA dot is large. Some people prefer this for competition use as it's easy to pick up and covers a lot of the target. This is why it's featured on the Defender XL.
