How to decide which reticle size is best for you

Trijicon pistol optics come in a variety of different reticle sizes. So it may be challenging to figure out which one is best. Below we will cover each size reticle they offer to help you decide which is best for you

For the comparisons we are grouping certain sizes together. For example 2.5 MOA and 3.25 MOA is so similar so we will group them into one bucket, the same goes for 5 MOA and 6.5 MOA.

  • 1 MOA: 1 MOA is a very fine dot. It will give you the most precise aiming point, however it may be challenging to pick up when drawing if you are not well practiced. If you raise the brightness up, you could simulate having a larger dot.
  • 2.5 & 3.25 MOA: 3.25 MOA is the most popular dot size for Trijicon Pistol Optics. It's a good combo of precise, but still large enough to not get lost in the window. 2.5 MOA is very similar to 3.25 MOA size.
  • 5 & 6.5 MOA: 5 MOA and 6.5 MOA is getting into the closer range territory. The dot being larger is good for close distance and competition. It allows you to see a larger dot in the window, and then gives you more surface area to place on target. The only downside would be further distances it may not be as precise.
  • Multi Reticle (55 MOA Ring + 1 MOA Dot or 3.25 MOA Dot): The multi reticle from Trijicon has a 55 MOA outer ring, and then you can get a version with a 1 MOA dot or 3.25 MOA center dot. The large outer ring can be toggled off if needed. The large outer ring is good for picking up the dot, and close range, and the precise center dot is good for longer ranges and precision.
  • 9 MOA Amber Dot: The 9 MOA Amber dot is found in the dual illuminated RMR models which use fiber optics and tritium. The Amber color is a good option if you are colorblind, it may help you see the dot more clearly. The 9 MOA dot is large, but that is likely due to the fiber optic and tritium nature of these optics and not having batteries.
  • 9 MOA Green Dot: The 9 MOA Green dot is found in the dual illuminated RMR models which use fiber optics and tritium. Some users prefer a green dot and say it may help with astigmatism. The 9 MOA dot is large, but that is likely due to the fiber optic and tritium nature of these optics and not having batteries.
