Our Journey:
Freedom Gorilla began with Paul and Mark, long-time friends and co-workers who shared a passion for business and the firearms industry. With backgrounds in IT and digital marketing, they decided to venture into their own business after years of working together. Their journey began modestly with the launch of their first product, the Freedom Gorilla Lifesaver Whistle, with hopes of going viral on TikTok. Despite their best efforts, the results weren’t what they had hoped for.
Undeterred, Paul and Mark shifted their focus to the optics space, an area in which they had prior experience. They found immediate success selling Holosun optics, and quickly realized that customers loved not only the products but also Freedom Gorilla's fast shipping and exceptional customer service. This turning point led to rapid growth, and soon, they expanded their product offerings to include top brands like Vortex, Primary Arms, and Athlon Optics.
What began as a way to break free from their 9-to-5 jobs has grown into a thriving business with a dedicated team. Guided by the motto “Do Good. - Paul Rinaldi: Paul is an IT professional who grew up splitting his time between the country and the suburbs. He’s been shooting since the age of 8, learning firearm safety and respect for weapons early on. He enjoys the outdoors, working out, spending time with his family, and taking his Springer Spaniel, Oakley, for walks in the woods.
Paul is passionate about delighting customers, ensuring fast shipping, and enhancing website experiences, always appreciating great customer feedback. His father and grandfather are both retired law enforcement officers, and both of his grandfathers proudly served in WWII.
- Mark Dymond: Co-Founder Mark also grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, learning the ropes of entrepreneurship from his grandfather, who owned a local business and apartments. Starting at age 10, Mark would help remodel apartments during tenant turnovers and assist at his grandfather’s business during summers. These early experiences taught him the value of hard work and the importance of careful tenant selection.
With a family history of multi-generational military service, Mark began shooting as a hobby with his dad many years ago. Now an enthusiast in outdoor activities, firearms, and emergency preparedness, he’s excited to offer great deals and top-notch service to all Freedom Gorilla customers.
- Steve Hensley: Born and raised on a family farm in Kentucky, Steve began shooting at seven and later competed in IDPA and USPSA while becoming a gunsmith. With a background as a law enforcement officer, instructor, and armorer, he has taught firearms and self-defense in various settings.
Steve is also a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America, focusing on preparedness for the next generation. He’s married and enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and dog. Steve is dedicated to providing excellent service and helping customers make informed decisions about firearms and shooting.
