Holosun ACSS Vulcan Reticles

Holosun ACSS Vulcan reticles deliver patented Primary Arms ACSS Vulcan reticle technology, featuring either a 10 MOA chevron with a 250 MOA outer ring or 3 MOA dot with a 230 MOA dotted outer ring for rapid target acquisition and enhanced accuracy.

If you are looking for a pistol red dot sight with a chevron reticle, Holosun ACSS Vulcan Reticles feature a large 200+ MOA ring with either a 3 MOA dot used for the 507K ACSS Vulcan or a 10 MOA chevron available on 507C ACSS Vulcan and 509 ACSS Vulcan models.

This design allows you to find the dot more easily, and users consider it a “cheat code” for fast target acquisition. Here are the Holosun ACSS Vulcan Reticles Freedom Gorilla has to offer:

ACSS Vulcan Reticle Technology: Why The Outer Ring Beats Traditional Dots

The benefit of Primary Arms patented design for the ACSS Vulcan Reticle is that it improves sight function with the help of a large outer guidance ring, helping achieve faster sight acquisition under stress. The guidance ring system eliminates the challenges of finding the dot with the addition of a prominent chevron or dot.

The ACSS Vulcan Reticle features the 10 MOA chevron option or a 3 MOA dot option. The chevron reticle in the Primary Arms ACSS Vulcan beats the traditional dot, because it offers precision aiming with intuitive target alignment.

The outer ring with the ACSS Vulcan reticle also eliminates the challenge of finding the dot by providing a clear guidance system.

Rapid Target Acquisition Under Stress

The outer ring used by ACSS Vulcan Reticles shouldn’t be visible when the center dot or chevron is in the middle of the sight. This means the circle provides faster sight picture acquisition, guiding the eye toward the center chevron.

With the 200+ MOA ring you will know if you are aiming too far in one direction based on what area of the ring you are viewing. If you’re seeing the left side of the circle, you’re aimed too far right. Right side, too far left. Bottom, aimed too high. Top, aimed too low.

This immediate visual feedback allows you to acquire targets quickly especially under stress.

3 MOA Dot vs. 10 MOA Chevron Options

Although the 10 MOA chevron beats the traditional dot in many ways, it still depends on your needs. The traditional dot tends to be simpler and less obstructive, and is therefore best for those who are considering speed. In that case, the Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan is a great option and comes with the option of a green or red reticle.

The Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan Red & Green Dot Sights offer both reticle color options for subcompact applications.

A chevron is best for precision thanks to the fine tip that points and centers your target instead of overlapping it as a dot would. For that reason, the Holosun 507C X2 Vulcan and 509 ACSS Vulcan are the best optics. The 507C comes with the option of a red or green reticle and the 509 comes with the option of an RMR footprint or MOS footprint.

507C, 507K, and 509 Series Platform Options

The ACSS Vulcan Reticle lineup features the 507C, 507K, and 509, all of which feature the shake awake technology and have a housing built of 7075-T6 aluminum. Here is a more in-depth breakdown:

  • 507C Series: The 507C ACSS Vulcan is designed for full-size and compact pistols. It has an RMR footprint and a solar failsafe in the form of a solar panel at the top of the housing. It also features Shake Awake technology, 20K hours of battery life, and is IP67 waterproof.
  • 507K Series: The 507K ACSS Vulcan fits subcompact and micro pistols, has Shake Awake technology, 20K hours of battery life, and has a side access battery.
  • 509 Series: The 509 ACSS Vulcan is an enclosed emitter, has Shake Awake technology, 25K hours of battery life, solar failsafe in the form of a solar panel, and has the option of an MOS or RMR adapter.

These ACSS Vulcan models are part of the broader Holosun Red Dot Pistol Optics lineup.

Solar Failsafe vs. Standard Battery Models

The 507C and 509 series offer a solar failsafe in the form of a solar panel on the top of the housing. This ensures that if the battery fails and you are in the presence of sunlight, the optic will continue to work. This feature also prolongs the life of the battery and gives the 507C and 509 series automatic brightness modes.

The 507K series does not have a failsafe and relies on the battery which can easily be replaced while the optic is mounted thanks to a side access panel. This also means that the 507K ACSS Vulcan reticle only has manual brightness. The 507K ACSS Vulcan, 507C ACSS Vulcan, and 509 ACSS Vulcan all use a CR1632 battery.

Open Reflex vs. Enclosed Emitter Benefits

The Holosun ACSS Vulcan series features open reflexes and enclosed emitters. The 507C and 507K are open reflex optics which are less bulky and give less of a tunneling effect when looking through the sight. This is also better for concealing

The 509 series is an enclosed emitter which is beneficial for harsh conditions if you plan to carry. This is a bit bulkier, but it does protect the optic from debris, dirt, and dust.

Footprint Compatibility and Mounting Solutions

The optics of the Holosun ACSS Vulcan series are made to fit three footprints depending on the optic: RMR, MOS, and K (modified RMSc). The 507C series utilizes a RMR footprint for standard-ready slides. The 507K series features a K footprint, or modified RMSc footprint.

The 509 series comes with the option of a MOS adapter plate, so it can fit any Glock MOS model, or a RMR adapter plate. The 507K can fit directly onto popular platforms like the SIG P365, Ruger Max-9, and S&W Equalizer while the 507C can mount directly to platforms such as the SIG P320, Walther PDP, and the PSA Dagger.
