Hey Freedom Gorillas today we are going to explain the similarities and differences between the Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507C X2. We know it can be difficult to understand the differences when you don’t have them both in your hands.

If you aren’t familiar with the ACSS Vulcan system, it’s essentially an aim assist. There is a large outer ring that is not visible unless your dot is off center. The large outer ring helps you “find the dot” when drawing the pistol. You can read more about it on our ACSS Vulcan article here.

TLDR: The main difference between the Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan and the Holosun 507C X2 is the reticle. The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has a 10 MOA chevron and a 250 MOA outer ring, the 507C X2 has the MRS reticle which is a 32 MOA circle and a 2 MOA dot. Aside from that, the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is a little more expensive, and has a shorter battery life. Besides those (internal) differences they are essentially the same optic just with different reticles.

Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507C X2 Reticles

As you can see in the photo below the main difference between the Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is the reticle.

The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has at 10MOA Chevron and a 250 MOA outer ring. The 507C X2 has a 32 MOA outer circle and a 2 MOA center dot.

In person you cannot see the large outer ring on the ACSS Vulcan unless the chevron is not centered. This is because the outer ring is meant to help you find the dot. So when you are dead on, you don't see it, but when you are off center you can see the large outer ring and adjust as needed to "find the chevron".

Both the 32 MOA outer circle on the 507C X2 and the 250 MOA outer ring on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan can be turned off by holding down the "-" button for 3 seconds.

Doing this also prolongs battery life.

Both the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507C X2 come in red or green reticles.

Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507C X2 Battery Life

The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has slightly worse battery life than the 507C X2. Primary arms states the battery life as being 10,001 - 25,000 hours on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan.

The 507C X2 is rated about 20,000 hours on setting 6 using the MRS reticle.

If you turn the outer rings off on both of the optics their battery life increases.

The reason the battery life is work on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is likely because the 10 MOA chevron is larger than the 2 MOA dot, also the outer ring is much larger. Therefore it consumes a bit more power.

  • The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is more expensive than the 507C X2
  • The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has a shorter battery life than the 507C X2

Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507C X2 Which is Better?

The 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has a completely different reticle. The purpose of the ACSS Vulcan reticle is to help you find the dot easier by having the large 250 MOA outer ring. This is good for beginners and pros alike. The only thing to note is that the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan has a 10 MOA chevron. When you are looking down the optic that is what you will see. The outer ring is only visible if you are not centered.

The 10 MOA chevron on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan also acts as a range finder and has the most precise point out of any pistol red dot site. The tip of the chevron is ½ MOA and the bottom of the chevron is where you will hit at 50 yards with a 9MM pistol.

The 507C X2 on the other hand has the 32 MOA circle and the 2 MOA dot. You can turn off the 32 MOA circle and use the 2 MOA dot only but if you have them both together and are looking directly down the optic you will see both.

Conclusion

So which should you get? I think it comes down to your preferences. The 507C X2 with the MRS reticle is nice, and the larger 32 MOA circle does help you “find the dot” a bit easier than just having a dot alone, however the larger 250 MOA ring on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is completely different since it’s main purpose is to help you adjust when you are off center.

The 10 MOA chevron on the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan is also pretty cool. I really like the idea of it being the most precise reticle you can get.

With red dots on pistols, practice makes perfect, so the more you draw and shoot the more you will get comfortable finding the dot.

With that being said, if you want the best precision and extra peace of mind finding the dot quickly then the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan will do that over the 507C X2.
