Hey Freedom Gorillas today we are going to explain the similarities and differences between the Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2. We understand that it can be difficult to understand the differences when you don’t have them both in your hands.
If you aren’t familiar with the ACSS Vulcan system, it’s essentially like an aim assist. There is a large outer ring that is not visible unless you do not have your dot centered. The large outer ring helps you “find the dot” when drawing the pistol. You can read more about it on our ACSS Vulcan article here.
TLDR: The main difference between the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 is the reticle. The 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan has a 230 MOA dotted outer ring and 3 MOA dot, and the 507K X2 has a 32 MOA circle and 2 MOA Dot. Besides the reticle, everything else is exactly the same between both optics. The 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan is more expensive than the 507K X2.

Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Footprint
Both the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 have a K-Series a.k.a. modified RMSc footprint. This will fit directly on some sub and micro compact pistols, for others you will need an RMSc adapter plate.
To see if this will fit you gun please use our fitment guides.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Size & Intended Use
Both the 507K ACSS Vulcan and 507K X2 are micro pistol optics. This means they are on the smaller side and are intended for use for micro and sub compact pistols.
It's important to know what footprint you have on your pistol to ensure these will fit properly.
Dimensionally the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 are exactly the same. They have the same housing, glass, buttons, adjustment turrets, etc.
The only difference is they have different reticles.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Deck Height
Both the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 have the same deck height. The deck height is around 7MM tall. This is a relatively low deck height. If you are trying to co-witness your iron sights you can use 7MM as frame of reference to measure if you will see your iron sights.
If you have a pistol that requires and RMSc adapter plate you can add another 1-2MM to that measurement.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Reticles
The main difference between the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 is the reticle.
The 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan has a 230 MOA dotted outer ring and a 3 MOA center dot.
The 507K X2 has a 32 MOA outer ring and a 2 MOA center dot.
Both of these optics can be toggled to use just the dot only.
The 230 MOA dotted outer ring of the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan is meant to help you aim the red dot more efficiently. When you first start shooting red dot sights you will notice you don't always "see" the dot when you put the pistol in front of you.
The 230 MOA dotted outer ring helps you "center" and find the dot when you need to adjust.
The 507K X2 with the MRS reticle (32 MOA outer ring and 2 MOA dot) doesn't have this same effect, however the 32 MOA outer ring does help in a similar way with finding the dot - just not as effectively.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Battery Life
Both the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 have the same battery life. They are rated at 20,000 hours of battery life using brightness setting 6 and using the reticles with the outer ring.
If you turn off the outer ring on both, the battery life jumps to 50,000 hours using the center dot only on brightness setting 6.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Similarities
- Dimensionally they are identical
- They both come in red or green reticles
- They both have manual brightness modes only and no solar failsafe
- They both have side removable batteries
- They are both made out of 7075 T6 Aluminum
- They are both IP67 waterproof
- Both are rated at about 20K hours of battery life when using the MRS reticle or the ACSS Vulcan reticle. This jumps to 50K hours of battery life if using the dot only.
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Differences
- The 507K X2 has the M.R.S. (Multi Reticle System) 32 MOA outer ring and 2 MOA dot and the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan has the ACSS Vulcan reticle with a 230 MOA dotted outer ring and a 3 MOA center dot.
- The 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan is more expensive than the 507K X2
Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan vs 507K X2 Which is Better?
So as you can see the only real difference between the Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan and the 507K X2 is the reticle. So which is better?
Well the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan has a completely different reticle. The purpose of the ACSS Vulcan reticle is to help you find the dot easier by having the large 230 MOA outer ring. This is good for beginners and pros alike. The only thing to note is that the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan has a 3 MOA center dot. When you are looking down the optic that is what you will see. The outer ring is only visible if you are not centered.
The 507K X2 on the other hand has the 32 MOA circle and the 2 MOA dot. You can turn off the 32 MOA circle and use the 2 MOA dot only but if you have them both together and are looking directly down the optic you will see both.
I think of the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan as essentially a 3 MOA dot reticle that has a large outer ring to help me center the dot, whereas I view the 507K X2 as having a larger 32 MOA circle with 2 MOA dot reticle.

Conclusion
So which should you get? I think it comes down to your preferences. The 507K X2 with the MRS reticle is nice, and the larger 32 MOA circle does help you “find the dot” a bit easier than just having a dot alone, however the larger 230 MOA ring on the 507K ACSS Vulcan is completely different since it’s main purpose is to help you adjust when you are off center.
With red dots on pistols, practice makes perfect, so the more you draw and shoot the more you will get comfortable finding the dot.
With that being said if you want some extra assistance with finding the dot then the 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan will do that better than the 507K X2.
