Precision-Fit Dovetail Adapters for Non-Optics Ready Slides
These specialized mounting plates are designed for firearms without factory optics cut slides. Each plate is precisely machined from lightweight 7075 aircraft aluminum to match the exact dovetail dimensions of your specific pistol model. This precision engineering ensures a secure fit without modification to your slide, maintaining the integrity of your firearm while adding red dot capability.
The dovetail installation method provides good stability during recoil, as the mounting plate locks into the same channel that previously held your rear sight. This design distributes force across the entire dovetail interface rather than relying solely on mounting screws, resulting in a mount that maintains zero through extended use.
If you’re looking to adapt your existing setup for optics, our precision-fit adapter plates make mounting your red dot on non-optic-ready slides effortless.
Compatible Pistol Models and Custom Fitment
Our collection includes mounting plates for most popular pistol platforms:
- Glock - Fits standard models with factory dovetail
- Smith & Wesson M&P - Full-size and compact models
- Smith & Wesson M&P EZ - 380/9mm variants
- Sig Sauer P365 - Standard model
- Springfield Armory XD - Multiple variants
- Ruger 57 - Standard model
- Sig Sauer P320/M17 - Multiple variants
- Ruger Mark Series - Target and competition models
- Smith & Wesson SD9VE/SD40VE - Both calibers
- Smith & Wesson Shield Plus - All variants
- Taurus G3C - Compact model
- Mossberg MC1sc - Subcompact model
Each mounting plate is specifically designed for its intended pistol, ensuring proper fit and sight alignment. Unlike universal adapters that compromise on fitment, these model-specific designs provide better stability and aesthetic integration with your firearm. For firearms equipped with Picatinny rails, our versatile Picatinny mounts offer rock-solid attachment and repeatable zero.
Red Dot Compatibility and Optic Mounting
These mounting plates are designed specifically for the Holosun K footprint (modified RMSc), making them compatible with Holosun 407K and 507K series optics, Shield RMSc optics, Swampfox Sentinel optics, and various other micro red dots using the K/RMSc footprint.
The mounting system includes the proper screws and provides the correct thread engagement for secure attachment of your optic. This dedicated design ensures your red dot sits at a suitable height for both sight picture and durability, unlike universal systems that often position optics too high above the slide. For rifles or weapons with Picatinny rails, see our Picatinny mount options for alternative mounting solutions. And if you need flexible pistol options, explore our range of red dot mounts to find the perfect interface for almost any micro sight.
Installation Process and Tools Required
Installing these dovetail adapter plates typically takes less than 20 minutes with basic tools. First, remove your existing rear sight using a sight pusher tool (hammer and punch can work but isn't recommended). Next, slide the adapter plate into the dovetail from left to right (same direction as factory sight). Then center the plate and secure with the included set screw if applicable. Finally, mount your red dot using the provided screws and thread locker.
No permanent modification to your slide is required, making this a reversible upgrade that maintains your pistol's resale value. If you ever wish to return to iron sights, simply remove the plate and reinstall your factory rear sight.
Advantages Over Direct Milling
These dovetail mounting plates offer several benefits compared to having your slide milled:
- Preserves factory finish - No machining means no refinishing required
- Maintains value - Fully reversible modification
- Immediate use - No downtime waiting for gunsmithing services
- Multiple optic options - Can switch between compatible red dots
- Cost-effective - Less expensive than professional milling
- Warranty safe - Doesn't void manufacturer warranty on most pistols
While direct milling provides the lowest possible mounting height, these dovetail adapters offer a good compromise between performance and practicality for most shooters. For other mounting options for different optic types, browse our complete red dot mount collection.
