Well we got our hands on the long awaited Magpul MBUS 3 polymer back up iron sights. In short we are pleased with Magpul's enhancements.
MBUS 3 vs MBUS 2 Quick Highlights
Some major highlights:
- The MBUS 3 front & rear weigh .5oz less than the MBUS 2
- The slimmer profile is about as wide as the pic rail.
- The rear aperture toggle is much better than the MBUS 2
- The tool-less front sight post adjustment is a welcome improvement
Our Opinion
Overall we love the MBUS 3 the only thing we prefer more on the MBUS 2 is the deployment button. The MBUS 2 lets you deploy the front and rear using your thumbs, the MBUS 3 moved the button to the center so you have to remove your hand from the gun to press it - not a huge deal but worth noting.
Comparison Pictures & Videos
We took a bunch of comparison pictures, so here they are for your enjoyment.
They come in clamshell packaging which is different than the old MBUS 2
MBUS 3 vs MBUS 2 Profile Comparison
The rear aperture on the MBUS 3 is a nice improvement. You swing the entire thing to use the larger or smaller aperture. The MBUS 2 has a hinge design that is a bit finicky and not as sleek.
The front sight on the MBUS 3 has a toolless adjustment knob to raise the FSP up and down. The MBUS 2 you need to use a front site tool that Magpul provides or a bullet.
