Below are the EOTech 518 and 558 Model Holographic Red Dot Sights.
The 518 and 558 both use AA batteries, Quick Disconnect mounts, and feature a 1/3 co-witness. The buttons for these optics are on the side.
The only difference is that the 518 has daylight brightness modes only, and the 558 has additional nightvision brightness settings.
The 558 also has a 10M depth waterproof rating, while the 518 has a 3M depth waterproof rating.

I have terrible vision - distance, close, astigmatism, coke-bottle lenses, no longer correctable to 20/20, very thankful I’m not completely blind. The green Vulcan (chevron) with the full circle for recapture is 1000x better than the typical red dot. I tested it on my FN 509 CC Edge, a firearm I am not loving, and suddenly I like it a lot more. I’m getting one of these for all my handguns.
Love these micro in closed sights. Shake awake is a huge selling point. Solar backup doesn’t hurt either. Features and settings are super easy to change also. I went with Green Dot because I’m starting to have vision issues and the GD is super easy to pickup regardless. Very easy to zero and these sights do hold zero well. Pro X2 has been on my shorty AR10 and now the 15. This is a good all around option with awesome battery life. Very easy to use, setup, zero, with some cool little features. We’ve been using the 510Cs and the original AEMS here long enough to say they are reliable. Can not vouch for torture tests because we handle our rifles with care. Loaded up to shoot it is a pretty rough ride up the mountain though so they take that beating well. Hope this info helps with your decision.
Only cons I can say is the Auto brightness feature doesn’t work in a MOUT scenario with attached lite source because it is in front of the rifle. You will need to remember that in low light scenarios. If you’re worried about, “parallax” stop watching internet videos and work on your fundamentals. The original AEMS with worse windows wasn’t even an issue. Choice is yours. Happy hunting.
Great price from Freedom Gorilla! Fits on my M&P 2.0 9mm perfectly while allowing a co-witness with my XS Big Dot glow sights. Best part is not having to deal with any adaptor plates.
Installation was simple. It performs as intended.
Freedom Gorilla’s website is fantastic with the explanation of each Holosun optic. Pictures and a detailed explanation for each optic enabled me to choose this optic that I purchased. Great explanation of what each optic does along with pictures and specific specs. I read many reviews about the differences between the red dot which is what I have been training with and a green dot. I chose the green dot with my Holosun EPS, Carry, MRS optic. I am glad I made the switch. Freedom gorillas Customer Service also pointed me in the right direction on the very specific plate that I needed. Stellar customer service. Shipping was quick and I received my Optic within one week. This Holosun optic fits solid on the gun and love the green dot. I would highly recommend Freedom Gorilla for your optic and plate purchases. Above and beyond in all aspects.
This was a direct fit to my HKCC9 and took very little adjustment to zero. It’s a smaller window than I am used to being my first RMSc compact optic but I am a big fan of the ACSS reticles which help with quick pickup of the dot. I wish this compact size was available with a chevron center reticle instead of only the round dot. Another great feature holosun should add is the solar top panel for auto reticle dimming. I have that on my duty pistol and it’s the best of all worlds.
I have many holosun optics. The epc carry is my new favorite. Great optic.
Can’t beat the quality or the price. The only complaint I have is there were no stickers with it 😅
I have it on my VP9 Match and I absolutely love it; zero issues whatsoever. Even after firing over 500 rounds through my gun, it's still holding up incredibly well.
This light is a prime example of getting what you pay for. The rechargeable batteries and brightness make it a top choice for me.
