After doing significant research on red/green dot sights for my Smith and Wesson M&P 1.0 PRO CORE in 9MM – I decided to go with a Holoson 507C Green DOT. First off it took some time to figure out whether or not the supplied optic plates would be compatible. Freedom Gorilla was very helpful in determining an adapter plate – in fact to my surprise Smith and Wesson supplied a RMR adapter which worked perfectly with my weapon. I am using the green dot with a 32 MOA circle. Having suppressor height sights on the weapon allowed for a shallow co-witness with the iron sights. Using Freedom Gorilla’s zeroing guide, I used a bore sight laser to adjust the optics for 50 FT. Unfortunately, the initial sighting was far from zero, I went out and purchased another laser sighting system to zero out the site and this also had significant issues with being anywhere close to center target. I have resorted to zeroing the sight to my co-witness front sight for centering at 25’ – the sight works but accentuates any slight movement of the weapon – making the sight pretty much irrelevant. Basically, I am better off with the iron sights vs. the green dot setup. Follow-up shots with the green dot are not accurate by any means – I am avid shooter for over 30+ years. Think twice or try a red/green optic before buying – it is not all that!
