2024 Holosun Pistol Optic Lineup Overview - What's New + Current Models Explained

2024 Holosun Pistol Optic Lineup Overview - What's New + Current Models Explained

paul rinaldi |

If you’re into pistol red dots, then you are very much aware of Holosun. They are dominating the pistol red dot game right now and for good reason. They make some of the best pistol red dot sights and green dot sights you can buy for the money and they keep innovating.

With all their innovation it can be hard to keep track of everything that’s going on with their lineup. Sometimes they come out with new series, new reticles, new models, and sometimes things get discontinued (but that's rare).

In this guide we are going to breakdown Holosun’s pistol optic lineup for 2024 and beyond. Our goal is to make it as easy and simple to understand as possible.

TLDR

If you don’t want to read the whole article here is a quick summary of Holosuns Pistol Optic lineup for 2024

Holosun K Series Footprint Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights

K Series Footprint Optics: These are smaller optics designed for micro-compact and sub-compact pistols like the Sig P365, Glock 43X MOS, and Springfield Armory Hellcat. They have a K Series footprint so if you have an RMSc footprint you will need an adapter plate. Learn more about K Series vs RMSc footprint here.

Holosun Pistol Specific Footprint Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights, SCS PDP, SCS VP9, SCS MP2, SCS MOS, SCS P10

Pistol Specific Footprint Optics: These are pistol optics that are designed to fit specific pistols only. They are all part of the “Solar Charging Sight” (SCS) Family, which means they come in green MRS reticles only, and utilize the solar charging + the internal rechargeable battery. The beauty of these sights is that they are very low profile and sleek. They match the look of the pistol and they are so low that you can use your low iron sights.

Variables - Features that Change within Holosun Pistol Optics

Holosun is a manufacturer, they assemble these optics in a factory, sometimes optics are exactly the same except they have a few things changed on them. With that being said, these are things that Holosun changes to create unique versions of their optics.

  • Housing Material: most are 7075 T6 aluminum, but some are Titanium
  • Reticle Color: Almost every optic comes in either a red or a green dot
  • Reticle Style: To date, Holosun pistol optics have either a 2 MOA dot, 6 MOA dot, MRS reticle, CRS reticle, 3 MOA ACSS Vulcan, or 10 MOA Chevron ACSS Vulcan
  • Solar Panels: Some of the Holosun optics have this feature, some do not
  • Solar Recharging: the latest series, the SCS series, has an infinitely rechargeable internal battery

Each optic has some combination of the above, plus its footprint, and that’s how an optic is produced.

Similarities among all Holosun Pistol Optics

Most of the optics we cover here will have the following features which are pretty much standard on almost every Holosun Pistol optic.

  • Shake Awake (Excluding SCS Models)
  • 7075 T6 Aluminum Housings (Excluding Titanium Models)
  • IP67 or IPX8 Waterproof Ratings
  • Side Removable Batteries (Excluding SCS Models)
  • Long Battery Life (20K Hours for MRS/CRS Reticle, 50K Hours for 2 or 6 MOA Dot, Infinite for SCS Models)
  • Available in Red or Green Reticles (Excluding  SCS Models - they are green dot only)
  • Manual Brightness Modes (Excluding SCS models)
  • Solar Failsafe + Auto Brightness Modes (All optics have this except for the 407K X2, 507K X2, 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan, EPS/EPS Carry 2 & 6 MOA, and 407C A3)

How this guide is organized

We’re going to organize this guide to make it simple to understand. To do that we are going to break the optics down by their footprint, intended use, and sometimes by their series.

So let’s get into it.

K series Footprint Optics - Micro Pistol Optics for Sub Compact and Micro Compact Pistols

K Series footprint pistol optics from Holosun are made to be mounted to sub and micro compact pistols such as the Sig P365, Glock 43X, or S&W Shield Plus. These are some of the most popular red and green dot sights on the market.

The K Series footprint is also called a modified RMSc footprint. The K Series footprint has a spot for two shallow front recoil lugs only, while the RMSc footprint has spots for 4 recoil lugs. If your pistol has the four recoil lugs then you will need an adapter plate. You can find adapter plates here using our adapter plate finder. You can learn more about K Series vs RMSc footprint here.

Holosun K Series vs RMSc footprint Example

Just for quick reference, the Glock 43X MOS, Springfield Hellcat, S&W Shield plus all need adapter plates, the Sig P365 does not.

Holosun K Series Footprint Optics Diagram
So which optics have the K Series footprint and are intended for use with Sub & Micro Compact Pistols?
Starts at $224+ Holosun 407K X2: This is the entry level micro pistol optic. It has the most affordable price, is made out of 7075 T6 aluminum, it’s an open emitter, and has a 6 MOA dot only.
Starts at $295+ Holosun 507K X2: This is just like the 407K X2 except it comes with the MRS reticle. Which gives you a 2 MOA dot and 32 MOA outer ring. The reticle can be toggled to show the 2 MOA dot only, the 32 MOA outer ring only, or both together just by holding down the “-” button. This is one of the most popular open emitter pistol red dots.
Starts at $329+ Holosun 507K X2 ACSS Vulcan: This is a co-branded optic between Holosun & Primary Arms. It has a very unique reticle called the ACSS Vulcan. It has a 3 MOA center dot, and a 230 MOA dotted outer ring. The outer ring is not visible when the dot is centered. The ring is used to help adjust your grip to “find the dot”. It’s like an aim assist. You can learn more about the ACSS Vulcan in our guide here.
Starts at $329+ Holosun EPS Carry: This is one of the most popular enclosed emitter pistol red dots on the market. It has a 7075 T6 aluminum housing, comes in 2 MOA, 6 MOA, or MRS reticle and includes an RMSc adapter plate. The MRS models have a solar failsafe and auto + manual brightness modes.
Starts at $399+

Holosun SCS Carry: This is the latest optic to be released from Holosun. It’s an enclosed emitter and comes with and RMSc adapter plate. It comes in a green MRS reticle only. It features Holosun’s newest “Solar Charging Technology”. This means it has an internal rechargeable battery with a 20K hour power reserve. The internal battery is constantly being charged by the solar panel. Both sunlight and artificial light charge the battery. The battery consumes power slower than it gets recharged, which means you have theoretical infinite battery life. This optic does not have shake awake and has auto brightness only.

RMR footprint optics - For Full Size and Compact Pistols

The next most abundant footprint in the Holosun pistol optic lineup is their RMR footprint optics. The RMR footprint is one of the most popular footprints out there. The RMR footprint optics are larger than the K Series footprint optics. They are intended for use on full size pistols like a Glock 17 or S&W M&P 2.0 or compact pistols like a Glock 19, or S&W M&P 2.0 Compact.

Holosun RMR Footprint Optics Infographic

Holosun does two things when it comes to the RMR footprint. First they have certain optics that are a direct RMR footprint and second they have enclosed emitter optics that come with an RMR footprint adapter plate.

One thing to note is that sometimes, if your pistol comes with multiple adapter plates, using the enclosed emitters with the RMR adapter plate may run into problems with mounting. The RMR adapter plate is usually best only when you have a directly milled RMR slide. Also if you have “Screw Posts” on your slide then the RMR adapter plate optics will not fit.

The direct RMR Footprint Holosun Optics are:

Starts at $244+ Holosun 407C X2: This is the most entry level optic from Holosun in the RMR footprint. It has a solar failsafe, shake awake, 7075 T6 aluminum housing and comes in a 2 MOA red or green dot only.
Starts at $309+ Holosun 507C X2: This optic is identical to the 407C X2, except it features Holosun’s MRS reticle.
Starts at $319+ Holosun 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan: This is a co-branded optic between Holosun and Primary Arms. It features the 10 MOA Chevron ACSS Reticle. Which is a 10 MOA Chevron center reticle and a 250 MOA outer ring. The outer ring is not visible when the chevron is centered. The ring is used to help adjust your grip to “find the dot”. It’s like an aim assist. You can learn more about the ACSS Vulcan in our guide here.
Starts at $369+ Holosun 507 Comp: This is one of the most popular newer pistol red dots from Holosun. It has the largest window out of any pistol red dot and is made for competition shooting. It does not have a solar failsafe, and it features the CRS reticle which is 7 reticles in 1.
Starts at $369+ Holosun 508T X2: This is a Grade 5 Titanium pistol optic. It’s very similar to the 507C X2 except the housing is stronger and the window and housing shape is more rectangular. This is an amazing duty and hard use optic. It has the MRS reticle, solar failsafe, and shake awake.

The enclosed emitter optics that come with an RMR adapter plate are:

*Note: The 509T, 509 ACSS Vulcan, and EPS Full Size won't fit on a slide like pictured below which has screw posts. This is because the optic will not sit flush on the adapter plate due to the protrusion of the screw posts.

Holosun EPS Full Size and 509T 509ACSS Vulcan won't fit a Zev Screw Post Slide Like This Example
Starts at $329+ Holosun EPS Full Size: This optic is technically a K Series footprint, but it’s large and comes with screws intended for use on full size and compact pistols. It’s an enclosed emitter made out of 7075 T6 aluminum. It comes in a 2 MOA, 6 MOA, or MRS reticle. The MRS reticle versions have solar failsafe + auto brightness modes.
Starts at $429+ Holosun 509T X2: This is a Grade 5 Titanium enclosed emitter. It’s super durable and one of the best duty optics out there. It has the MRS reticle and features a clamp on design. You can find more 509T X2 adapter plates here.
Starts at $449+ Holosun 509 ACSS Vulcan: This is a 7075 T6 Aluminum enclosed emitter optic that is co-branded with Primary Arms. It has the 10 MOA Chevron ACSS Vulcan Reticle.

DeltaPoint Pro Footprint Optics - For full size and compact pistols

Holosun DPP DeltaPoint Pro Romeo 1 Pro Footprint Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights

Like the RMR footprint optics, the DeltaPoint Pro (DPP) footprint optics Holosun makes are intended for Full Size & Compact pistols like Glock 17 or Glock 19.

The DeltaPoint Pro footprint is another common footprint, it is found on the Sig P320, Sig P226, and many other optics ready pistols that have multiple adapter plates.

The DeltaPoint Pro footprint is the same as the Sig Romeo 1 Pro footprint.

The DeltaPoint Pro Footprint Holosun Optics are:

Starts at $399+ Holosun SCS 320: This is a newer pistol optic from Holosun and it’s an awesome enclosed emitter.

Pistol Specific Footprints - These are made to fit specific pistols only

Holosun Pistol Specific Footprint Optics - Red & Green Dot Sights, SCS PDP, SCS VP9, SCS MP2, SCS MOS, SCS P10

Once you start researching optics ready pistols as much as we do, you will quickly realize that many manufacturers mill out a slide with a unique footprint and then provide multiple adapter plates. For example the Glock MOS comes with four adapter plates, this would let you mount multiple footprint optics such as RMSc footprint, Delta Point Pro, RMR, and so on.

Manufacturers do this so that you have the ability to mount multiple brands of red dots if you please.

Since Holosun is constantly innovating they have created specific optics for these pistols that use these multiple adapter plates. What’s cool about this, is that these optics eliminate the need for the adapter plates and mount directly on the slide. These optics are tailor fitted to specific footprints.

The end result is that you get a very low profile, very sleek looking pistol optic that mounts directly on your slide, and also matches the look and feel of your pistol - usually serrations and styling match. So the optic is truly made specifically for your pistol.

Holosun doesn’t make these for every pistol, but here are the pistols that have these optics.

All of these SCS Optics below feature Holosun’s newest “Solar Charging Technology”.

These optics come in Green MRS reticles only

Holosun Pistol Optics for 2025 & Beyond

That pretty much covers what’s currently on the market or in the works right now for a release within the 2024 calendar year.

At Show Show 2024 Holosun teased us with a Pistol Thermal optic and pistol Night Vision. It was pretty cool (when it worked).

We don’t know when it will be released, but we have heard of 2025 or 2026.
