The CZ Duty is shaping up to be a pretty exciting addition to CZ's pistol lineup! The Duty is a completely new striker-fired platform featuring a modular chassis system, allowing you to swap between compatible grip modules.
One of the coolest features, in our opinion, is the optics mounting system. Similar to the Ruger RXM and Springfield Echelon, the CZ Duty uses an interchangeable pin system that allows you to directly mount red dots with several different footprints, including RMR, RMSc, Holosun K, and DeltaPoint Pro. This gives you a ton of flexibility when choosing an optic.
If you've picked up a CZ Duty, or you're thinking about getting one, and want to mount a Holosun red dot on it, you've come to the right place!
In this guide, we're covering which Holosun red dots fit the CZ Duty, how the different optic footprints work with its mounting system, and our favorite Holosun recommendations to help you find the perfect red dot for your setup.

Why Consider a Holosun Red Dot?
There are a lot of pistol red dots on the market today, but Holosun continues to be one of our favorite brands to recommend because they offer an excellent combination of features, durability, battery life, and affordability.
Most Holosun pistol optics come packed with features like Shake Awake technology, long battery life, multiple brightness settings, and durable aluminum housings. Depending on the model, you can also get additional features like Holosun's Multi-Reticle System (MRS), Solar Failsafe, enclosed emitters, and convenient side-loading batteries.
Another big advantage is the sheer number of options Holosun offers. Whether you're looking for an affordable open-emitter red dot, a larger window for easier dot tracking, or a rugged enclosed emitter for added protection against dirt, rain, and debris, Holosun has something for just about everyone.
This makes Holosun an especially great match for the CZ Duty. Since the Duty supports multiple optic footprints, you have a wide selection of Holosun red dots to choose from without needing adapter plates.
That combination of features, reliability, and value is why Holosun has become one of the most popular red dot brands on the market, and why we recommend them as well.
What optics footprint is the CZ Duty?
One of the best features of the CZ Duty is its versatile optics mounting system. Instead of being limited to one optic footprint or requiring adapter plates, the CZ Duty uses an interchangeable pin system that allows you to directly mount several different red dot footprints.
For Holosun optics, there are three main footprints to consider: RMR, Holosun K/RMSc, and DeltaPoint Pro (DPP). Each uses a different combination of mounting pins and screws, which we'll break down below.
RMR Footprint

The RMR footprint is one of the most popular pistol optic footprints and is used by Holosun models like the 407C, 507C, 508T, and 507COMP.
To mount an RMR footprint optic on the CZ Duty, you'll need:
- Front Pins: 1L + 1R
- Rear Pins: None
- Screws: 6-32
Holosun K / RMSc Footprint

The CZ Duty also supports Holosun K and RMSc footprint optics. These two footprints are very similar, but the rear recoil pins make the difference. The K footprint does not have the rear recoil pins but the RMSc does.
For Holosun K footprint optics, such as the 407K, 507K, EPS, and EPS Carry, you'll need:
- Front Pins: 3L + 3R
- Rear Pins: None
- Screws: M4
However, if you're mounting an optic with a true RMSc footprint, like the Holosun EPS CORE, or using the included RMSc mounting plate with the Holosun AEMS-MICRO, you can also use the rear B pins.
For a true RMSc mounting configuration, you'll need:
- Front Pins: 3L + 3R
- Rear Pins: 2x B
- Screws: M4
DeltaPoint Pro (DPP) Footprint
The CZ Duty also supports the DeltaPoint Pro footprint, which is used by the Holosun SCS 320.
To mount a DPP footprint optic on the CZ Duty, you'll need:
- Front Pins: 2L + 2R
- Rear Pins: 2x A
- Screws: M4

All three of these mounting configurations allow you to mount compatible Holosun optics directly to the CZ Duty without needing an adapter plate. Just make sure you're using the correct pins and properly sized screws for your specific optic.
Important: Always verify screw length before installation. CZ specifies that mounting screws should not protrude more than 4mm below the optic, as excessively long screws can interfere with the firearm's operation. Follow CZ's and the optic manufacturer's installation instructions for proper mounting and torque specifications.
What adapter plates exist for the CZ Duty?
You do not need an adapter plate to install red dots on the CZ Duty. However, one thing you may notice is that there will be some exposed space in the slide's optic cut. While this doesn't affect the functionality of the optic, it may not give you the cleanest-looking setup. We're currently working on developing our own CZ Duty adapter plates that will fill the entire optic cut, eliminating those exposed gaps while also removing the need for the interchangeable mounting pins. Stay tuned!

RMR footprint optics are generally going to be your larger red dot options, making them an excellent choice for the full-size framed CZ Duty models. These optics have larger viewing windows than compact Holosun K optics, giving you more room to find and track your dot during recoil.

Choosing between Red or Green Reticles

It’s f to go back and forth betweevn red vs green reticles, so here are a few practical points to help you decide which one makes the most sense for your setup.
- Green reticles are often easier on the eyes, especially during longer range sessions or extended training.
- Shooters with astigmatism sometimes see a cleaner dot in green. While results vary from person to person, many customers report that a green reticle appears more defined and less “smeared” compared to red.
- Green will not washout on backdrops like green grass, foliage, or green colors.
- In theory Green dots can have a longer battery life because Green is brighter, so for example a green dot on brightness setting 6 may be the same brightness as a red dot on setting 7 - which would save battery life.
If you want to learn more check out our full article about Red vs Green Dot Pros & Cons here.
Choosing between Open vs Closed Emitters
A simple way to think about open versus enclosed emitter red dots is to match the optic to how you plan to run your CZ Duty.
If your Duty is going to see a lot of outdoor use in rain, snow, or rough conditions, an enclosed emitter has a clear advantage. The emitter is sealed inside the housing, which helps prevent water, dirt, or debris from blocking the dot when conditions are less than ideal.
For shooters running OWB setups, whether for duty, range time, or general outdoor use, enclosed optics tend to be the safer choice for that added protection and consistency.
If your Duty is primarily carried IWB or used in more controlled environments, an open emitter optic will serve you just fine. They are lighter, simple, and still perform well in most situations, including light weather. Enclosed designs just add an extra layer of reliability when things get messy.
Maintenance is another factor to consider. Open emitter optics can collect dust, lint, and debris over time, especially with daily carry, so occasional cleaning is part of the routine. Enclosed emitters are easier to maintain since the critical components are protected inside the housing.
To learn more about Open vs Closed emitters you can check out our Open vs Closed Emitter Guide here.
